Shawn of the Dead review

Shawn of the Dead was a romantic comedy with zombies. That got me thinking: how can that be possible? I was expecting to see a lot of gore, blood and laughs. Although I am not a fan at all of horror movies, my expectations were met and I found that the movie was great all the way to the end. This movie was based and revolved around Shawn and his girlfriend problems while at the same time zombies were taking over the town and turning everyone that was in sight into zombies. It is very unlikely to find a mix of two genres so different combined into one movie. The dialogue is what made the film keep going because of the humor. The storyline was interesting and always kept you guessing what was going to happen next. The lighting in the movie was very simple and showed that Shawn had a very simple and basic life. At one point in the movie Shawn’s life took a big twist because of the zombies and he wasn’t living a simple life no more, and the lighting allowed the zombies to stand out.

I find that the directing was very well-done; the actors were funny and played the roles perfectly. Shawn played his role very good and portrayed an average guy living a simple life, with his lazy roommate kept the movie moving along with lots of jokes and laughs. The actors all fitted in, meshed well together and made the movie go along perfectly. The gory scenes were not so pleasant to watch but it made the movie what it was.

I would recommend this movie to anyone who is a fan of either romantic comedies or zombie movies or maybe just a mix of both. It is also a good movie for those who don’t mind gory scenes and want to have a couple of laughs here and there. Anyone who has an opened mind to anything can enjoy this movie.

Along Came Polly review

Along Came Polly is a romantic comedy where I would expect the typical “boy and girl” story: boy likes girl, boy loses girl, boy gets her back and live a happily ever after. While all this happens I would expect the trip to be a bumpy but also funny road. This movie turned out to be really funny and like expected 2oppisites attract but to get to the happily ever ending it was somewhat difficulty but hilarious at the same time.

I believe that the writing was good for a romantic comedy and everything was followed. I must say that this was one of the best romantic comedies that I have ever watched because the idea of an uptight guy that has a plan for everything in life paired with a spontaneous girl who lives life with no plan makes a perfect twist to the movie. The movie was full of jokes but really adorable at the same time.

The directing with the lighting and camera angles was very well done for the movie; it was simple which kept you focused on the story. The salsa club, art gallery, St. Barts and Polly’s apartment all provided nice backgrounds for the scenes.

Even though Ben Stiller is not one of my favorite actors he played the part perfectly this movie; he was funny. He made the comedy part of the romantic comedy excellent. Jennifer Aniston didn’t require much for her role in the movie she just had to play a free-spirited girl basically she just had to play herself just like what Ben Stiller did. I believe that all the actors played their part perfectly in the movie which made the movie incredibly funny and enjoyable.

I would recommend this movie to any person who would like to get a good laugh out of it and not regret watching the movie.

The Dark Knight review

The Dark Knight can be considered as an action movie. In action movies I expect many things including a plot with twists and turns, and ups and downs. This is the type of movie that viewers shouldn’t get to comfortable because they never know what can happen next. Since there is a lot of action people should be expecting many fights, robberies, chases, explosives (guns) and more. My expectations were exceeded; the plot was excellent and always took some new twists and turns to make time fly by and make a series of events happen. The action sequences planned out by the joker were incredible. The superhero in the movie, the Dark Knight was a smart and incredible protagonist. The movie was well written it felt complete with the amount of body it had but at the same time was quick and smart; it is what made this movie more than a regular action movie. It is also what made the story go along smoothly and you can feel the emotions and feelings of the characters just by reading the dialogue. For example the way Batman struggles with being the hero. The directing was also the major factor that made the movie a success. The way Gotham was represented set the grim tone to the movie, the city filled with crime. I think the whole movie was well filmed and edited and there was no scene that I preferred over the other. The message behind the whole movie was good; it showed how the people cared of humanity and not only in the hero. The joker was a great character; the way his role was played should his capability of terrorizing. Not only did his acting make his a well played character but also the way they made him look and the way he spoke. The camera angles and lighting made everything flow. It also made the Joker look scarier than he already is and it also made him standout. For example when he was in the hospital dress up as a nurse, only when he turn around towards the camera in the bright hospital room made him standout and you can see every detail of those scary looking scars. He stood out because his scary looking grim didn’t blend in with the bright light and nurse outfit. Heath Leger was the best actor chosen to play this role. It had seemed like he had been doing that his whole life. He got into the role with every detail: the way he talked, walked, and you can see in his eyes the hate the joker had. I first had seen the movie the day it came out to theatres and I was amazed to see the amount of people who went to see this movie even thought not everyone is into superhero or action movies. This movie got rated as one of the best, I loved this movie even thought I am not really attracted to this type of movie. I would recommend this movie to anyone who is open minded and is into viewing any sort of movie but mainly I would go with the group age of teens and up.

Did my message get through to you?

1. To test if the DVD was durable I bend the DVD until it broke and I realized that it would take a lot for the DVD to break. So yes the DVD was durable.

2. To test if DVD could have been viewed on any computer or TV I first tested it on a laptop and a regular computer then I tested it on two different DVD players. After recording results I noticed that the DVD worked perfectly on all electronic devices.

3. I noticed that the DVS was easily transported from place to place and there were no problems that where encountered.

4. To test the amount of space on the DVD I transferred my project onto it after it was finalized and realized that it had more than enough space needed to fit , my project on it. DVD’s can hold up hours of work onto them.

I believe that planning my project was a great help to my hectic schedule. There was a bit of problems encountered such as finding a computer to work on, finding the right designs and since this project gave us more freedom than last time it was a bit harder to do things on our own with a bit of help from our teacher, this time we had to guidelines to follow, no rights or wrongs. The freedom that it gave us also taught me that you shouldn’t depend on others to do things. I also realized that there is a lot of work put into creating an artist’s portfolio. Technology is used more and more everyday and is making life easier and more practical. A portfolio made by technology is more accessible for gallery owners. An artist has to put into a lot of work when making their artist portfolio; they not only have to create their own artwork but they also have to figure out an easy/portable/convenient way to showcase their work to gallery owners. Presenting your art work by using technology is very simple you just have to find the right way to do it. When choosing the right way of doing it you have to get informed on how to use the program needed and then the rest is up to you. Overall I worked hard on creating my artist’s portfolio and I believe that my project is a “Better” artist’s portfolio, it is portable/convenient/feasible and has everything included.

Create- Week of April 27

This week I finished my entire project. Each art work with its descriptions were put onto a scene selection option that I created by using the program Adobe Encore. When background was set and each piece of art work was put into a scene selection box I made sure that everything was accurate by testing and viewing my project. When everything was as accurate as it was suppose to be I then burned my project on a DVD. When the DVD was complete I then created a design on the DVD which included “Allison’s Artist Portfolio” and a tree to represent how my pieces of art all relate to the environment. When everything was done I had to start testing my project and see if it is really a “Better” artist’s portfolio.

“12 year old sues Dad”

I think that this story has opened my eyes of how some children are so spoiled and misunderstanding these days. When a little girl of 12 years old is capable of sewing her father for not making her go on a field trip it shows us that the acknowledgement of the authority is rapidly decreasing. Just starting out with the fact that the court accepted to take into consideration this situation proves that the authority of parents is decreasing. Parents play a very important role to children when they are young, they are responsible of teaching the kids what is right and wrong and teach them the good values in life. Yes, sometimes kids will not always do what is right but that is when the parent steps in and makes their kids learn from their mistake, by telling them what should be done next time and punishing them to show them that things should get out of hand and they shouldn’t do it again or else they won’t get away with it. It is not the same as when we are older because that is when we are more experienced and we can learn by our mistakes.

In this case the mom shouldn’t have been so selfish and just cared about the money but she should look at how ridiculous she is by encouraging her daughter to take her father to court for restricting her from going on a field trip. She should have talked it over with the father and figured out a different solution. This case has already been approved twice imagine the things it would do to society if it gets approved a third time which is at a high risk of happening. In life every child needs rules and restrictions to follow it would become a chaos, things would get out of hand and it’s no longer going to be the parents controlling their kids it will be the kids having their parents wrapped around their little finger. The only way the children will be able to learn from their mistakes is by confronting the consequences. The mother was acting childish herself in not following then father’s decisions, and it is not restriction of attending a field trio that will damage the kid psychologically it will be her getting stuck in the middle of her parents’ divorce.

This week I went to my art room to measure all of my art’s height, width, and length in cm in order to finish their descriptions. I recorded all of the measurements and recorded them all onto each slide I created in Photoshop composing of my art work and its description. Each description was made up of the name of the art work, what it was made of and its dimensions. Next week I will finalize my entire project and burn it onto a DVD.

This week I finalized each picture by photo shopping them and making them look almost perfect. When this was finalized I transferred all the new edited pictures into a different file. I then started writing down each description for the pictures. In the description I will include the name of the art work, the date it was created, the sizes and so on. Next class I plan on finishing the descriptions for each piece of art and then start creating my background for my scene selection page.

This week I learnt more about using Adobe encore, tutorialized.com was a great helping hand. After reading and practicing some things on Adobe Encore I decided to start creating the look of the layout. I first finished taking all the pictures of my art work from different angles, and I started photo shopping each picture until it looked the greatest it can seem. When pictures will be all photo shopped I will then start writing down their descriptions. I want to keep everything the most organized it can be so I can be well prepared and I won’t have to rush threw anything.

Does technology create lazy students?

Technology has saved us large amounts of time people like to say, it has evolved greatly over the years and we no longer need to waste time to gather up what we need when we have it all at a touch our fingertips. We have many things thanks to technology that people didn’t not have back in the past. It has helped us in many ways providing us with computers and all of the many things you can do with it, TV’s, videogames, music, and many other useful things. It has provided us with more spare time, but the bad things about it are that children don’t use this spare time wisely. Instead of doing some sports, exercise, and enjoying the outdoors kids rather lock themselves up inside and play videogames or watch TV and these kids are getting more and more comfortable with this lazy lifestyle. People believe that things that consume time and effort are not worth doing anymore they rather take the easy way out.

Technology over the time will evolve and always be around in different shapes and sizes. Throughout the years that are to come new gadgets will be created tempting children to play rather than be motivated to work, technology is a huge distraction. It has helped us greatly over time but there are downsides to this helping hand. All around the world but mostly generalized in America more and more kids are becoming lazy causing OBSEITY, which has caused many deaths. Technology shouldn’t get entirely blamed for the children’s laziness but it is a great factor that causes it.
